Personal - About us A&M Bacon Ltd was established in 2003 and incorporates Michael Bacon Associates which was created in 1981. We are based in offices in the heart of Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire.
What we Offer As legal costs experts we are able to help people involved in court cases in a number of ways. If you have received a bill for your own or other people’s solicitor’s costs as the result of a court case we can help you assess how much you should pay and reduce the bill if need be. If you have been awarded costs or damages from a third party we can assist in ensuring that you receive the right amount. We offer a friendly and personal service providing detailed attention to every case. We are not believers in the ‘production line’ approach but we can react quickly to urgent cases and turn them round promptly in order to minimise worry and reduce the time it takes to settle your costs.
Company Directors Our company’s Directors are Alison Bacon AALCD and Michael Bacon MA (Cantab) FALCD, MAE, QDR. Managing Director Michael is a member of the Academy of Experts and a qualified Mediator. He is one of fewer than 200 Costs Lawyers in the UK holding a Practising Certificate from the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen granting him rights of audience in all costs matters in all courts up to but excluding the Court of Appeal. Michael is a Fellow of the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen, lectures on the law and practice of costs and contributes to publications including Greenslade on Costs, The Litigation Practice and The Legal Aid Practice Manual. He is also the Co-Editor of the Costs Law Reports. At A&M Bacon Ltd our Law Costs Draftsmen build up close working relationships with their clients. The Draftsman who prepares the Points of Dispute in a case will conduct negotiations to the settlement stage. Our Directors and Draftsmen meet regularly to share and pool knowledge on their case work. This enables us to provide a consistent approach where paying or receiving parties crop up regularly and react quickly to any inconsistencies that arise in bills or schedules of costs.
