Increased Civil and Family Court Fees are now payable
The Court Fees (Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2021 was implemented on 30 September 2021. Consequently, the increased court fees are now payable.
The court fees were increased following the public consultation regarding ‘Increasing selected court fees and help with fees income thresholds by inflation’.
The public consultation analysed historic inflation during the period August 2016 and April 2021 and opted to increase the rates to reflect the historic inflation. The Government concluded that “increasing fees by inflation to reflect the increasing costs of HMCTS helps to maintain the funding of the system whilst easing the cost to the general taxpayer”.
